Kick Back & Enjoy the Ride — Snow Tubing in North Georgia

Snow Tubing | Blue Ridge

When winter settles into the North Georgia Mountains, it’s time to grab an inner tube, ride a magic carpet to the top of a snow-covered hill, and zoom down with a smile on your cool getaway! While ice skating with friends, viewing ice sculptures at the Fire & Ice Chili Cookoff, and sipping local wine fireside are great ways to enjoy the coolest time of year in the Blue Ridge Mountains, snow tubing in North Georgia has to be our personal favorite pastime in winter.

Unlike skiing or snowboarding at ski resorts and ski areas or snowshoeing on frozen trails, almost any age can participate in snow tubing sessions, making it an inclusive and fun way to spend time with family and friends in the snow. There are a couple of places to enjoy winter activities and go snow tubing in North Georgia, and we have the inside scoop. Best of all, you can add to your Appalachian experience at a cozy cabin with mountain views, a steamy hot tub, and a crackling fireplace!

Blizzard Mountain at License to Chill Snow Island

As cool winter winds begin to chill North Georgia, Margaritaville at Lanier Islands welcomes back Snow Island and transforms Parrot Mountain into Blizzard Mountain! This gigantic snow tubing hill at Lake Lanier is one of the longest and steepest in all of North America — measuring 575 feet long and 8 stories high.

In our opinion, Blizzard Mountain offers the best snow tubing within driving distance of Blue Ridge, Georgia! Plus, it offers a great opportunity to play in the North Georgia snow, go ice skating with family and friends, and help make your winter in the Blue Ridge Mountains memorable.

Ice Skating

Along with snow tubing in North Georgia, this unique winter park offers ice skating at Frosty’s Ice Rink and a snow play area at Snowball Alley — perfect for snow angels, forts, and snowball fights! Glide around the ice skating rink with your partner and make the perfect snowball, snow angel, or snow fort with the whole family.

More Things to Do

After enjoying snowy fun and the tubing run at this family-friendly winter wonderland, make s’mores around the firepits, enjoy carnival rides, walk through the Lights Spectacular show, and stop by the Tipsy Snowman for a wintry buzz! You can also enjoy a hearty meal and a round of hot cocoa to refuel for more frozen fun at Glacier Cafe, which also features a bakeshop with cookies and cake pops.
