How did The Black Sheep Begin?
History of the Building
Built around 1914 as the historic Butt House, The Black Sheep on West Main St was built by Colonel William Butt (former alderman, Mayor of Blue Ridge, and member of the Georgia legislature) and played host to many parties – including those honoring author Margaret Mitchell (author of Gone With the Wind). It was one of the first Fannin County homes to get indoor plumbing, and it has been refurbished over the years – aside from the mostly original windows and marble steps! When you eat at The Black Sheep, it’s more than a meal. It’s an experience of the history and charm that beautiful Blue Ridge, Georgia offers. Sip and eat at the old house under a 200-year-old oak tree for a unique Blue Ridge experience.

You can also visit their sister restaurant, The Dogwood Hangout, for live music, food, and drinks!
