Why A Mountain Getaway is JUST What Your Family Needs

Family in the Mountains

The kids have their faces plastered to screens. You’re catching up on emails, taking after-hours calls, and managing 100 things at once. The laundry is piling up, the dishes are stacked in the sink, and you’ve vacuumed up cheerios a few too many times this week. Sound familiar? Or maybe your grown children (or your siblings) are spread out across the country, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to get together. Whatever your situation, if you’re finding yourself missing out on some quality family time, a North Georgia mountain vacation is JUST what your family needs.

Why a mountain vacation?

There is just something so rejuvenating about the mountains. From the fresh mountain breezes and stunning vistas to stirring wildlife and cool streams, the mountains have a way of making things feel new. They invite you to break away from the screens, get outside, treat yourself to some “me time,” and reconnect with those you love. As naturalist John Muir so famously put it, “The mountains are calling, and I must go.”

Why the North Georgia mountains?

North Georgia offers something extra-special when it comes to a mountain vacation. The Blue Ridge Mountains are truly stunning, offering miles of hiking trails along the Appalachian Trail to explore, incredible overlooks, rushing waterfalls, stretches of road perfect for scenic drives, tons of state parks and recreation areas for biking and horseback riding, plenty of outdoor activities, and an impressive diversity of flora and fauna.

It’s home to charming mountain towns (Dahlonega, Helen, Ellijay, Blairsville, and more), local art scenes, historic landmarks, talented local musicians, local wineries, Lake Chatuge, and annual events that feature food, music, art, and more. Whether you love the great outdoors, enjoy treating yourself, want to soak up the natural beauty, want to have some classic family fun, like staying in, or need something new to mix up time with family, you’ll find that North Georgia is JUST what your family needs.
