Wits and wonder combine at the Dahlonega Science Festival — a brilliant chance to show YOUR kids how cool science really is. Formed in 2018 by the Dahlonega Science Council, a passionate group dedicated to promoting science education in North Georgia, this hands-on event is family friendly and welcomes all science enthusiasts or curious thinkers. From biology and astronomy to chemistry and physics, the annual Dahlonega Science Festival has it all! Dahlonega Science Festival
Each year features a new theme at the Dahlonega Science Festival to promote a variety of scientific fields to the people of North Georgia. The science festival is spread across downtown Dahlonega, with businesses (including UNG – the University of North Georgia) donating space for scientific festivities. Each day hosts new events, and the last day typically ends with a special brunch and science talk.
Guest Speakers
Keynote speakers and other guests present their scientific fields or discoveries in a kid-friendly way to ensure everyone can understand. There will also be science panels for more riveting discussions, and afterward, you can meet and greet with panelists.
Planetarium Shows
Often a favorite at the Dahlonega Science Festival, the planetarium shows are a huge hit with the kids! One year, they even had a unique show that featured Harry Potter astronomy, which was pretty neat.
Workshops
Family-friendly activities abound at the science festival in Dahlonega. Maybe you’ll perform experiments in a lab, play escape games, learn more at the Discovery Center, solve crime scene mysteries, and participate in science trivia nights together. Every year is different!
