This luxury home has 4,589 square feet across its 3 levels, with 5 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, and sleeping space for 12 guests. It’s only a short drive to shops, restaurants, and many outdoor activities in the nearby city of Jasper, Georgia. If you wish to stay closer to home, you get to enjoy all of the amenities of the Big Canoe Community, including swimming pools, miles of hiking trails, a fitness center, a 27-hole golf course and clubhouse, tennis courts, restaurants, and much more.
Make breakfast, lunch, and dinner in your fully equipped kitchen with all of the utensils, pots, and pans that you will need. Serve it up at the eat-in kitchen table for a quick meal or at the dining table for a sit-down gathering. Relax in one of two living areas on oversized leather furniture, both with wood-burning fireplaces and big screen TVs. Use the Wi-Fi to stream a movie on Netflix or find a favorite show or game to watch on YouTube TV.
After a day golfing, fishing or hiking, or having fun on Lake Petit, come in and feel right at home sleeping in one of 5 bedrooms in your luxury house rental. You will find a king master suite on the main level, 3 queen-size beds upstairs, and a queen and king bedroom on the lowest level. All beds have clean, crisp linens to make your night’s sleep as comfortable as it can be. Enjoy time on your outdoor deck or screened-in porch rocking with a hot cup of coffee listening to the sounds of the surrounding nature and taking in all the beauty Windmill Cottage has to offer. This property is great for a family vacation or a small group getaway.
Living Room
Walking into the entryway of Windmill Cottage, you are introduced to elegance on your mountain retreat. Your main floor living space is roomy and perfect for a large group. Beautiful wood flooring runs throughout the main floor. If reading is your style, sink into the oversized chair, cover up with a blanket, and put your feet up on the ottoman as you read a few chapters of your book with the sun shining through the windows behind you. Have a singing night gathered around the piano, and remember to bring your guitar to join in.
Choose a seat at one of the leather couches and catch up on the score of the game on your big screen TV, stream a movie on Netflix, or watch a show on YouTube TV. The large coffee table is great for serving snacks or hors d’oeuvres. Have a chat and a cup of coffee with your best friend with the flames from the wood-burning fireplace warming on a cool evening. The incredible, stacked stone on the fireplace meets the gorgeous hardwood ceiling that vaults up to the second-floor walkway.
Kitchen
Have a hot breakfast of pancakes, bacon, and toast made in your fully equipped kitchen, and use the coffeemaker to fix everyone a cup of coffee to energize for the day ahead. It has enough dishes and glassware for all 12 guests to enjoy a sit-down meal together, as well as pots, pans, and cooking utensils to make any dish, snack, or meal. Make a run to the grocery store in the Big Canoe Community and keep all of your fresh ingredients in the stainless steel refrigerator, with enough room for any leftovers from a dinner out to The Last Catch seafood restaurant as well.
Wood floors continue in the kitchen, with stained wood cabinets, elegant stone counters, and a patterned tile backsplash to pull all of the decor together beautifully. The stainless steel appliances add to the allure and help make any cooking and baking a breeze – with a dishwasher to make cleaning up easier. Use the bar as extra counter space for prep work, for serving food, or to seat 3 for a quick snack or overflow seating at meals.
Dining Room
When the food is prepared, you have lots of room to all spread out and eat. A dining table in the kitchen area seats 6, there are 3 seats at the kitchen bar, and there is a separate table in the dining room that will seat 8. So, bring all of your friends and cook up a wonderful meal to share. When dessert has been served, break out the games and have a game night laughing and making memories. The table can also be used for any homework the kids have to take care of while on vacation and is a good spot for the laptop. Wi-Fi is also available, so you can check emails, book tickets for area shows or attractions, and more.
Downstairs Living Space
While the adults have a glass of wine and catch up on life and family on the main level living area, the kids can have a movie night in the den space downstairs. An oversized leather couch, chair, and recliner offer a place to snuggle up and dive into a movie on your big screen TV. Stream a favorite or find a show or flick to watch on YouTube TV. Make some buttery popcorn, bake chocolate chip cookies, grab some chips and salsa, pour some drinks, and serve them all up on the coffee table. Throw some wood in the fireplace and let the flickering add to the ambiance while the warmth fills the space.
Bedrooms
When the fun and adventures of the day are over, everyone will be ready to shower and climb into a warm bed with fresh linens, pillow-top mattresses, and comfy covers. On the main level, you have a king-size bed with a bathroom that has a walk-in shower and double vanity. Upstairs, there is one bedroom with a queen bed and a second room with 2 queen beds with bathrooms. On the lower level, you have a queen-size bed in one bedroom and a king-size bed in the other, and they have a shared bathroom. All of the rooms have TVs, dressers for storage, and ceiling fans to keep everyone cool at night.
Outdoor Spaces
Nature surrounds you at Windmill Cottage, and you’ll have some wonderful places outside to enjoy it. Have a slice of pie and coffee on the screened-in porch while everyone chats and enjoys a breeze. Toss a few steaks and burgers on the propane grill and sit around the table on the wraparound deck to enjoy. If you need extra seating, there is a lower deck with a 2nd outdoor table and a couple of lounge chairs to handle the overflow.
Other Amenities
A washer/dryer helps to keep dirty laundry to a minimum at your Big Canoe vacation rental, and the air conditioning is nice on those hot summer days. As if all that your Windmill Cottage offers isn’t enough, you also have access to the amenities of Big Canoe Mountain Community.
Your cottage is located near the North gate of the community close to one of the 4 swimming pools and Wildcat Recreation Park. Other amenities include 3 lakes for fishing/boating, a 27-hole golf course, 16 tennis courts, lakeside picnic spots, 10 hiking trails, waterfalls, outdoor pools, restaurants, kayaks and pontoon boats, a fitness center and sauna, a grocery store, and even a post office.
While some community amenities in Big Canoe Community are free, others may require an on-site fee — please note this is not included in the rental price.

Windmill Cottage is located in the Big Canoe Community, just about 1 ½ hours from Atlanta and about an hour from Blue Ridge. This luxury rental home is not far from the most charming North Georgia towns, including favorites like Dahlonega, Dawsonville, Ellijay, and more. When you’re not relaxing and playing at your beautiful vacation home, take a scenic drive to explore the area!
