Georgia Mountain Fair
First held in 1950, the Georgia Mountain Fair is a staple of Towns County. Growing to attract more than 100,000 people every year, the Hiawassee fair was eventually moved to the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds. With more than 70 years under its belt, this Blue Ridge Mountain fair is a super summer event in North Georgia!

As the Country Music Capital of Georgia, Hiawassee boasts some of the best live music performances in the state! Along with many concerts throughout the year — like the Superstar Concert Series — the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds hosts a variety of annual events worth planning for.

Campgrounds
Featuring 207 campsites and RV sites, the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds is a neat place to go camping in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Open year-round, the camping zones are right along Lake Chatuge and boast water, electricity hookups, internet, and a bathhouse. Enjoy lake views and mountain views while reconnecting with nature and loved ones!

Additional amenities connected to the fairgrounds include paved playing courts, shaded picnic tables, a boat ramp, bench swings, a playground, the Hamilton Rhododendron Gardens, and even a full-time park ranger/security guard. Reservations by phone are required (number below).

Video Conference Center
Parts of the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds can be rented for private events. There’s even a 2-way video conference center that boasts a 192-inch by 144-inch screen and 2 remote cameras. And up to 3,000 people can attend!

Things to Note

  1. On-site parking is always FREE!
  2. Public restrooms are available at the fairgrounds.
  3. Pets are not allowed inside beyond the fairground gates.
